A thought provoking month of ideas
by Madeleine Coetzee - Monday, 29 July 2013, 10:32 AM

You know that you are a complete nerd when you get as excited as I was on the 9th July 2013 when I had the opportunity to listen to members of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)address an audience in Sandton.  It was very thought provoking, especially as the convergence project with the USA draws to a close and the IASB start to embark on fresh projects.  Watch this space as it was announced at this workshop that the new Revenue Recognition Standard will be released in September 2013.

We trust that the following two courses released this month will also be thought provoking!

The first course, Research and Development Tax Incentives discusses how South African entities can maximise their research and development function to take advantage of SARS tax incentive regime which provides an additional ‘super’ 50 percent income tax deduction on eligible R&D expenditure.

The second course, Greater competition calls for banking unusual, discusses the demands of a real-time society on financial service providers; how they will shift closer to a customer-led model to create a competitive advantage and enhance customer experience whilst maintaining compliance with laws & regulations and controlling costs.
